Autism Awareness Month represents a cause that should be recognized throughout the year, not just the month. Children are getting misdiagnosed, or the opposite… Not diagnosed until much later in life.
I used to work with children one-on-one with children who have Autism, teaching them life skills and doing “drills” with them. By “drills”, I would help them with their math homework,reading,handwriting..All the way to helping them make their bed, to communicating with their family. It all depended on where the child was on the Autism Spectrum. Each child with Autism has different needs, which need to be observed and personalized to each child.
